Props - The letter is old looking the writing loopy this fits in with the backwards nature of the village, the writing can't be raed and the letter is discarded, this intrigues the viewer.
Costume - the jacket is long and black, the character it shrouded in shadow and clothes which reveal little. The character often has his hands in his pockets which again suggest a sense of mystery.
